Bookings for the new 2020 Hyundai i20 have ‘unofficially’ commenced at Hyundai authorized dealers. It must be noted that the upcoming model has been in news for a while now and if the story in IndiaAuto.com is to be believed, then the interested car buyers can pre-order the upcoming model by paying a nominal amount ahead of the new model’s launch around Diwali.
The India-spec 2020 Hyundai i20 will be offered with two BS6-compliant engine options: a 1.5-litre CRDI diesel and a 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol motor. The diesel engine could develop 100PS of power while the T-GDI engine could put out 120PS. We expect Hyundai to offer the petrol motor with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT while the diesel engine could be offered with a manual option only.
The 2020 Hyndai i20 is also expected to be offered with the tried and tested 83PS 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine.
In comparison with the outgoing model, the new Hyundai i20 will be better-equipped. One of the most outstanding features of the hatchback will be the wider 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Like Hyundai’s modern cars, the new i20 will come with Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology. A leather-wrapped steering wheel, 8-speaker Bose sound system, digital instrument console, air purifier with virus protection and wireless charger might also be available.
The new-gen Hyundai i20 is expected to be priced from INR 5.8 lakh to INR 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched in India, the new hatchback will compete against the Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz, Tata Altroz and Maruti Baleno.
